Rowlands Castle Station

Works have been completed at the Rowlands Castle Railway Station for the refurbishment of the old station master’s house, which had been left empty for many years and has now been refurbished as a busy arts venue for the local community, including ceramics courses and jewellery making.

On behalf of Hampshire Community Rail, and funded by the Railway Heritage and The Arts Council, Avon Construction were awarded the works to provide a new space for future occupants “Making Space”. Works included plumbing and electrical repairs and upgrades, servicing of the fire alarm system and the air conditioning units, strip out and remove all old carpet tiles and furniture, the installation of bespoke timber window shutters, repairs to the existing sash windows, protective floor coatings and a full decoration of the inside of the building.

Extenal works included pressure washing, painting external walls, the installation of signage and minor drainage repairs.

Successfully completed in August 2026, the new space will give the community a safe place to explore their creative abilities.
