Avon Construction delivered the design and construction of a new 28m span pedestrian bridge over the River Cherwell at Christ Church College, Oxford.
The bridge is located in Christ Church Meadow, a grade 1 listed landscape in the Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of specific historic interest in England.
The works included bored piled foundations for the bridge and also piled foundation support for the mobile crane used to complete on-site fabrication and installation of the structure.
Access to the site was severely restricted and routes for bridge and cranes were planned well in advance with ground protection installed prior to early morning deliveries.
Construction and installation were completed to programme, the bridge was formally opened in June 2014 and is now fully in use.
We were awarded the Oxford Preservation Trust Award recognising the Contribution to Oxford in 2015 for Jubilee Bridge.
