Jenkyn Place Footbridge

Avon Construction have recently completed the replacement of a grade II listed private footbridge in Bentley. We were approached to design and build a like-for-like replacement footbridge belonging to Jenkyn Place Vineyard which had been destroyed by a hay bale vehicle. Our brief was to fabricate and install a replica bridge that met heritage requirements, conformed with current design codes and adhered to the highway’s specification.

Our package of works included the approval in principal (AIP) submission to Hampshire Highways, the rebuilding of brickwork abutments and concrete infill; design; fabrication and installation of the footbridge and reconstruction of the flagstone approach steps.

We liaised closely with the local authority to ensure that the bridge was successfully installed during a single day closure of the road under a controlled contract lift.
