The replacement of timber decking to the railway bridge.

Avon Construction were awarded the contract to replace the timber decking to the railway bridge at Greenford. The existing timber was in poor condition and needed replacing. The works involved the removal of the existing timber decking and replacing with new Ekki Timber shipped from West Africa via The Netherlands. The timber sizes were predominantly 265mm x 100mm x 2.9m

The contract included masonry repairs to the existing abutments, installation of the waterproof membrane and installation of filter drainage. The works were carried out over 3 days during a 5 day Network Rail Possession between Christmas and New Year. 2 shifts were used each day to enable 24 hour working.
