Friars Cliff Zig-Zag

Working for Christchurch and East Dorset Council, Avon Construction were contracted to design and build the reconstruction of the "Friars Cliff zig-zag" pedestrian access footpath which had fallen into a state of disrepair. The footpath provided direct access to the promenade and the new design needed to meet with equality act regulations.

The existing rotted timber kingpost wall was replaced with a over 50no. new steel universal columns and recycled plastic beams over a total length of 40m.

Other associated works involved the design and installation of handrails and the re-surfacing of the footpath to include coloured tarmac to demarcate landings.

Works commenced in the winter of 2018 and were successfully brought to completion early 2019.
