Barnham Bridges

Avon Construction has recently completed the permanent bridge at Barnham.

Avon were contracted by  by Barratt Homes to Design and Build a vehicle bridge in to their new Housing Development – Century Gardens.

The bridge is to be adopted by West Sussex County Council has been designed to full AIP approval.

EA constraints have determined that the bridge was constructed between the months of June and October to minimise disruption to wildlife – nesting birds, water voles, and fish.

Avon have installed a temporary bridge adjacent to the permanent bridge, to allow construction traffic to enter the site whilst the permanent bridge was being built.

Works completed to date include piles; reinforced concrete abutment pile caps, abutment walls and wing walls; precast concrete beams, bridge deck, water proofing and parapets.

The bridge has been handed over to the client and awaits construction of the approach roads by others.
