The two bridges cross the River Avon at Christchurch carrying clean water and drainage pipes. The contract involved the scaffolding, encapsulation, blasting of the bridge (under lead working regulations), followed by a structural assessment of the steelwork. Necessary repairs were completed before repainting the structures and installing a new galvanised mesh walkway. Finally the bridge bearings were replaced following removal of the scaffold. Having successfully completed this project on time and to budget, we refurbished a third bridge the following summer.
