The project required the removal of an existing deck coating and replacement with a new epoxy anti-skid surfacing to the high wear areas. The extremely busy centre was to remain live and there were stringent limits for night-time noise levels. A method for taking up the coating was developed from trials in advance of the works, and by working with the centre management a programme was developed to minimise disruption. By making maximum use of off-peak times (although several retailers trade 24 hours) the works were completed ahead of schedule and to budget.
